Our company’s logo is a sketch of the historic DODGE TAVERN,
in Walpole, NH. This building
is where our office is located. The
tavern, built in 1801, was frequented by townspeople as a place for local
congregation, news exchange, and entertainment.
In the era of the horse drawn team (early to mid 1800’s), it
became a popular stop for teams running goods from Canada to Boston.
Legend has it that a large chamber under the floor of the main barn
was often the covey for certain illegally smuggled goods! After the railroads ushered the end of teams, the tavern was
still a center for the locals. Up
until the early part of the 1900’s, the tavern was still in operation
and the second floor dance hall continued to provide an enjoyable Saturday
night.
The house itself has remained relatively unchanged since it was
constructed, making it easy to imagine what it was like in its heyday.
There are still wide pine board floors, horsehair and plaster
walls, and beautiful handmade pocket-panel doors that were used to divide
the rooms. Even today on the
front porch, graffiti from the old days of the tavern smatters across the
wooden wall planks.
Our family has lived on this plot for close to 100 years.
After moving to the United States from Poland, our great-
grandfather bought the land and the house and began the farm.
Three generations have been born here, raised here, and even
married here. It only seemed logical to root our business with the roots of
our family.
